THAC – The Human Aspect
Empower people. Strengthen systems. Build trust.
Leadership – Governance – Mediation
THAC works where people lead, decide and work together under pressure. Organisations in fragile and complex environments rarely struggle for lack of strategy alone. They come under strain when trust, safety and relationships break down.
THAC helps leaders, teams and institutions take the human factor seriously – as a foundation for effective leadership, sound governance and constructive conflict transformation.
Leadership & Strategy
Strategic direction, organisational development and leadership support for people carrying responsibility in demanding contexts – with clear priorities and decisions that can be put into practice.
Governance & Resilience
Clear responsibilities, effective oversight, security management, duty of care and trauma-informed approaches – helping institutions respond to pressure and earn the trust of those they serve.
Mediation & Conflict Transformation
Mediation, facilitated dialogue and conflict transformation – helping teams, institutions and political actors address disagreement and develop agreements they can sustain.
One approach connects them
Behind all three fields stands one systemic approach: the Relational Systems Framework (RSF). It looks at how people, relationships and institutions respond to pressure – how they manage tension, coordinate, stay connected, adapt and repair harm, and under which conditions this succeeds. With the RSF Stress Test, THAC also reviews existing strategies and programmes: what they already achieve, and where the human aspect needs strengthening.
Experience in practice
Training leaders for conflict settings
Strategic leadership, systems thinking, mediation and trauma-informed approaches for leaders, at the Institute for Peace and Dialogue.
One strategy for the Horn of Africa
Foreign policy, development, humanitarian aid and migration brought together in one Swiss whole-of-government strategy.
Dialogue across 80 organisations
Diaspora, development and human rights organisations, research and administration brought into one platform on migration.
Africa Initiative
Healthy Prosperity for Africa is THAC’s own initiative and the place where the approach is applied in the open: a first draft for discussion, an invitation to African-led development, and two stress tests of existing agendas and strategies. It shows how the RSF works in practice – and where its limits lie.
Three decades of experience in East Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Sahel and Swiss peace and foreign policy.
